Share your story.

It’s a privilege to hear from Albertans like you. However cancer has touched your life, your experience matters — and if you’re ready to share it, your story could help others feel less alone and shed light on the research, clinical trials and programs changing what’s possible in Alberta.

How sharing your story works.

There’s so much power in sharing your story. Here’s exactly what to expect if you choose to share yours.

Every submission is read by a real person.

We take the time to understand your experience and what you’re comfortable sharing.

We’ll reach out to feature your story.

If there’s an opportunity to feature your story, we’ll contact you directly for more information and next steps.

Your story stays yours.

We’ll work closely with you while drafting your story. You’ll review and approve it before anything is published.

*The Alberta Cancer Foundation currently supports people in Alberta. If you’re outside the province and would still like to share your story, please continue.

A few things worth knowing.

Not at all. We’re not looking for silver linings or happy endings. We’re looking for honest ones, wherever you are in your journey.

That’s okay. You don’t need a resolution to share. Some of the most meaningful stories are the ones still being written.

No. Just share a few sentences about your experience to get started. If we’re interested in featuring your story, we’ll set up an initial conversation to get to know you better, then work together to determine how to share your story.

You can. Nothing is shared without your approval, and you can step back at any point, no explanation needed.

As a fundraising organization, we share stories to raise awareness of our organization, demonstrate impact and inspire giving. We will always be clear when we are interested in featuring a story in a fundraising or marketing campaign.

It varies. We may reach out within a few weeks, or your submission may inform a future project. Either way, we’ll always be in touch before anything moves forward.

Absolutely. If you’re a caregiver, family member or have lost someone to cancer, your experience matters too and you’re always welcome to share.
